Powerplay Magazine - Issue 121 - June 2010 - Politika - Reviewer: Glenn Butler - Rating: 7/10 Powerpoints

In true punk rock fashion The Destructors' latest offering is served up purely for the UK election and is aptly titled 'Politika. This Peterborough Punk Outfit pulls out all the stops and really let you know what they think about the whole affair right from the off with "To Vote Or Not To Vote" and the lyric "whoever wins... you lose" repeated over and over. "Downfall" is a more musical and catchier track before the venom soaked lyrics of "Fuck EU". No suprise what the band are saying here but the music is quite rocky and palatable. The album is very anti establishment and displays typical punk rock values. I admire punk bands that are true to their roots and it has to be said that The Destructors fall into that category. The punk community should be happy to mark an 'X' in this albums box.

Well produced and well played UK punk. All in all I can't say I have heard anything better in the genre in years, and they cover Vindictives and X Ray Spex. So if thats your kettle of cod then buy with confidence and wave to the eye in the sky on your way out of the shop.Best song: Spy In The Sky, Best Title: Rule Nanny Brittania

Maximum Rock 'n' Roll #325 June 2010 - Politika

The latest release features some more modern flourishes, notably a clean production and some metal in the guitars. The bottom line is that this is a very enjoyable record. Pity it's CD only right now.

The Destructors”) are doin’ it quick and dirty with Quisnam Viglio Viglio. An eight-song EP that cycles through in less time than a sitcom sans commercials. The album takes a critical view of television as an insidious media tool. Prolific in their approach, the bands particular brand of punk serves up angry, socially conscious punk, hearkening back to a more old school, British punk style.

The Destructors fire up at 7:30pm and hit the bar (again) at 8:00pm so get there early. Doors open 7:00pm.

Malleus Maleficarum

This came our way a while back but I hadn't been able to get to it because of space constraints as well as some other relatively minor (if painful) situations I had to deal with. This time around Destructors 666 take the horror themes they sometimes explore in their music in a somewhat spell bound direction singing of devil dolls, sex hexs, witches, and the like with a melodic straight up in your face approach and a lot of overdriven guitars. What arises from this aural boiling cauldron is an intoxicating brew of punk rock with slight hints of hardcore, metal and garage rock added for extra flavor. The catchiness of this EP as well as the theme through the songs offers up something here that demands to be heard. They're not everyone's cup of sake but Destructors 666 are carrying on the punk mission with their sonic flag held high. Check this out.

We like these a lot. If you like classic punk and think that nowdays they don't make records like those from England in 1982, then you must hear this record. I'm sure you'll dig it.

Pow! That's Kill Music 666

In their three-year career Peterborough old skool crew The Destructors have churned out enough oddly titled EP’s and splits to fill a tidy space in any record store punk section. Many of these have sold out or faded into obscurity and that’s exactly where Pow! comes in. Cataloguing the earliest of the band’s recordings, along with six newbies thrown in as a treat, the album is boisterous, careering and unrefined: everything punk rock is supposed to be. Roll on volume two!

This recording is for those people unable to get hold of all early Destructors 666 releases (they sold out) and gives you the 666 story from the very start of the band, up to the start of 666 (with the present line-up). The cover songs from the original recordings have been left off. However, as a bonus we’ve included, two new songs, two re-recorded Destructors songs, and the great lost EP in its intended format.
